Artist Statement:
Ashley N. Gaskin is an artist and writer from Arizona with a BA in English(Creative Writing) and minors in Studio Art and Art History from Arizona State University-Barrett.
Her work, both physical art and writing, describes the push and pull of existence and life’s many “waves”.
Creating in a myriad of mediums including, but not limited to: oil pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and printmaking, the themes of memory and grief seen through her work emphasize the contrast—the rough and soft stream—defining our lives. It’s within the contrast, she believes, where peace and contentment lay: in release, in surrender, to the big wave.
