Artist Statement:

Ashley N. Gaskin is an artist and writer from Arizona with a BA in English(Creative Writing) and minors in Studio Art and Art History from Arizona State University-Barrett.

Her work, both physical art and writing, focus on themes of grief, memory, and relationships.

In art, there is a pensiveness and sometimes lonely quality in her work. She utilizes contrast—in space, in color—or repetitive line in order to achieve this effect.

In writing, she is imagery driven with unrestrained expression. Writing for her, is a place where she can make sense of herself, her memories, her relationships. Though she writes mostly fiction, her personal anxieties and grief are seen in the sentences.
